Layout for August

Here is the layout my scrapbook group is making in August:

We are using the Confetti Paper Packet, the matching Confetti Compliments Stickers, the Purple Shimmer Trim, and the Purple Glitter Gems.

I know, I know, I don't like stickers...

But these ones are cute! And they make a cake:

 The purple sparkles and shimmer trim match and make things nice and sparkly:

It's difficult to photograph...

For Chantre #2

Well she convinced me to do it again!

Here is another 3 card set for my Aunt Chantre:

This time we are using the Confetti Paper Packet, Purple Shimmer Trim, and Purple Glitter Gems. I planned it out so she can make at least 4 of each card with the one paper packet.

Basic Sketch

Here is the Kiwi Lane Basic Sketch for this week:

And although I really should make some cards soon, I turned it into a layout:

I know it's SUPER colorful and busy! But it's for a birthday party and I like it!

I really like the "tag background" I used from the sketch:

It just screams "celebration" to me!

The paper is a mix of old Close To My Heart and all the cutouts are from Out On A Limb Scapbooking (sale!sale!sale!). You can see all of their cute stuff HERE.

DT Doodles #15

That being said...

I took the not-so-easy-but-still-faster-than-designing-it-all-by-myself route and turned the sketch into a 2-page layout:

Since this last week was Kiwi Lane's birthday, I figured I'd stay with the theme!

I love to put my titles following along a template:

Always an easy option when I'm stuck for title placement!

I did go a bit overboard with balloons: 

But once I started cutting them out and slapping them down it was too fun and cute to stop! And then I got to decorate them with my glitter gel!!!

Happy times!

Sometimes when the page is busy I like to pop up my journaling:

It helps me remember that the STORY is supposed to be just as important as the PHOTOS; and of course the super cute paper...

It was really fun to use ONLY patterned paper on this layout! No cardstock!

I LOVE these colors! This is probably my favorite layout I've created in awhile! The photos will be lovely shots of me and my husband taken by a 7-year-old on my last birthday.

Kiwi Lane Blog Hop!!!

I was given the TINY SHAPES templates to work with:

Sometimes it's hard to scrapbook Thanksgiving. The traditional colors and decor are so drab for kids as little and crazy as mine. So I attempted a cute and fun version. 

I started with the size of photos I usually work with and just played around with my Kiwi Lane 12" borders. To learn more about the "framing" process Kiwi Lane uses go HERE; they explain it so much better than I can! The goal was something like this:

 Aaaaand ended up like this:

After some tracing, cutting, inking, and stamping of course! I made the turkey out of the larger circle template surrounded by 5 of the larger oval templates: 

 I think he's cute!

I really like to enhance the edges of my borders. This time it was with brads and doodling. It's so easy to get tons of different looks from just one template by changing up the edges!

After my layout, I just started playing with my Tiny Shapes and card borders:

1/2 a circle + 1/2 a hexagon = a cupcake:

 

3/4 an oval + 1/4 a hexagon = a pie:

1 triangle + 3 strips of paper = a candy corn:

I could keep going... :) 

I had so much fun being creative with my Tiny Shapes!

Batty BIrthday

Just a quick birthday card for all those lucky people with Halloween-ish birthdays!

I decided the saying was appropriate for bats instead of birds for the season.

The inside says "it's your birthday!"

The words and bat are heat embossed. I pieced together the little purple hat so he was better dressed for the party :)

Today is my amazingly talented and really nice upline Blythe's birthday! She is turning 24 with a few years experience ;)

I didn't get to go shopping (see previous post) so all she got was this card:

As close to a copy from an old Papercrafts magazine as I could get! I think it turned out cute... I just wish it was attached to a present!

Every cupcake needs a little pink glitter! My cupcake stamp was too big to fit in the circle punch I wanted to use, so I just chopped off some of the "wrapper" at the bottom. 

Just the inside view. Not sure why the Hollyhock pink looks so red in this photo?

I like to make cards that open in fun ways! To me, this version of opening is more fun than the traditional card. 

Ok, so it's not that exciting. Let's remember that I haven't slept in 3 days...

Birthday Cards

First of all, THANK YOU to the Fabulously Artsy Tresa Black (visit her amazing blog HERE) for teaching me how to add text to my photos! Now I can take credit for my scrappy stuff... or not if it doesn't turn out :)

That being said, I cannot take credit for this card:

I searched and searched to find out who I copied this idea from 2 years ago, and I failed! So if this is your card with my paper choice, please let me know so I can give you credit!!! It's so simple with the bow, but I love how it looks like presents.

This next card really is mine:

I had a few friends and Aunts (ok, only one friend and one Aunt) with birthdays who needed a special card.

The flowers are made with one of my many flower punches I am addicted to and a coiled ribbon center. I find that glue dots work best for this technique, but you can finish the end off with a glue gun to make sure it survives the mail!

And yes, I am particularly proud of my ribbon bows on both of these! So nice when things turn out!
