Central Park Layout

No, not the ACTUAL Central Park in New York...

I wish!

Back in July my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group made this layout with the Central Park Workshop:

SOOO bright and FUN! Definitely Summer! Definitely NOT how I feel about Summer... but good for most people!

Do you see the little shiny vellum accents?! Comeback time!

Yes, I am old enough and have been scrapbooking long enough to know that vellum is certainly NOT a new item!

I have a love-hate relationship with vellum. It looks awesome, but man is it a pain to glue! EVERYTHING shows through!!! If you have a glue that actually hides under vellum please let me know...

Go craft!

Making Waves Layout

Catch up time again!

Not a clue when my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group worked on this layout and the papers are long expired 2 catalogs ago... but it's WAY cute so here it is:

Loved this paper! All we used was the Making Waves Workshop; not even any stamping on this one!

Tip for the day:
When you have a sticky something that will go on top of your photo but your photo is not ready, just leave a scrap of the sticker paper on that part:

Yes it looks goony in photographs, but then you don't have to ruin the sticker peeling it up later!

Such cute paper! I am loving all the mermaid stuff this Summer!

Still HATE Summer itself, but the mermaids are nice...

Go craft!

Prickly Pear Layout

Close To My Heart Scrapbook group layout!

I hate Summer. HATE IT!!!

I may have passively-aggressively shown that in July's layout... it's ok to scrapbook your bad feelings, too!!!

The paper is covered in cactus!!! What other direction was I supposed to go?!

At least they were cute cactus:

I am happily wearing a hoodie today :)

Take that stupid Summer!

KL July Scrapbook Sketch

Layout sketch time at Kiwi Lane!!!

Visit their blog HERE to participate and find out how to WIN!

Here is the sketch:

Here is my sample:

This is so different from my "normal" style! I LOVED it!!!

Using Kiwi Lane Mini Borders on 12x12 layouts really helps draw your attention right to the photos:

Ok, I admittedly derailed from the sketch on the right page... but I was having too much fun cutting up my swirls and splats:

The background is really not as boring as it looks! Promise!!! See:

It's embossed and shiny!

This one was FUN to make!

KL Card Sketch #7

Happy Card Sketch Week!!!

Kiwi Lane has another fun card sketch challenge up on their blog!

Here is the sketch:

And just for fun I made 2 sample cards this time! Again!

Card #1:

Is it just me or are boy cards really hard?! Whenever I want to challenge myself with a masculine card, I reach for the Duct Tape! Or is it Duck Tape...?

Either way, that dull silver tape mixed with some splashes of paint make a pretty good boy card:

Card #2:

I am sooooooo done with the heat around here!!! So I made a sunshine card to try to cope!

Nothing fancy, just cute paper with cute stamps:

Go make your own and enter to WIN!

Mon Ami Gabby + Kiwi Lane

I have a Design Team post over at Kiwi Lane today!!!

Go HERE to see my big giant face.

This month I received a big pile of pretties from Mon Ami Gabby! Seriously beautiful stuff! Everything was very dimensional and maybe not acid free... MINI ALBUM!!!

Here is what I made:

The photos going in here are not printed yet... but they match perfectly :)

If you want to see how to make this scallop:

using the balloon shape from the Celebrate set or see how to gather burlap ribbon like this:

with no tools at all then you need to go to Kiwi Lane's blog HERE!

If you just want a BUNCH of photos, you've come to the right place!

Pages 1 and 2:

Pages 3 and 4:

Pages 5 and 6:

Pages 7 and 8:

Pages 9 and 10:

And the back cover:

I had WAY too much fun with the Mon Ami Gabby ribbon and twine!

The front is still my favorite:

I made the flower by just hand stitching along one side of the ribbon and gathering it into a rossette:

Ok! One last picture because I love this butterfly:

Whew!

Picture overload!

See you soon!

Basic Sketch

Another Kiwi Lane Design Team perk post!!!

I got the sketch early so I could make an example!

So this Basic Sketch went up on Kiwi Lane's Facebook page this morning:

And mine is already done and in the scrapbook!!!

See:

That's right! An entire scrapbook layout devoted to my children's flip flops!

I had this perfect paper sitting there waiting for the perfect moment with the perfect pictures... and I am really trying to combat that lately. I decided NOW is the perfect everything and I used those "special" papers!

I love the "oh flip":

I am apparently still on my only-use-patterned-paper kick. Even with my journaling strips:

Please excuse my terrible handwriting!

You have PLENTY of time to make your own layout!

Go!

Layout for July

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group is making in July:

I PROMISE the colors are soooo much better than the photograph!!! I just cannot get Kraft paper to come out looking normal!

We are using the Jubilee Paper Packet, the Topiary Chevron Ribbon, the Red Glitter Tape, and the Triangle Durables Studs. Can't get enough of those triangles lately!

I am usually too much of a wimp to stamp directly onto my layout, but I sucked it up this time! I really need to get over that because it always looks so good! ...when it works out...

This cute "border" is just the matching watermelon stamp stamped in a row on Kraft cardstock and cut out. Add some ribbon and Glitter tape and done!

Let me know if you are in the Utah County area and would like to make a fun Summer layout with us!

DT Doodles #11

I was able to follow this one *almost* exactly!

Here is the Kiwi Lane DT Doodles for this week:

And here is my layout:

 See? Pretty close this time!

...But I just couldn't put the square picture tilted.

Just. Can't. Do It.

Here is my favorite part:

I LOVE my little octopus!!!

I made him with my Paradise "splat" template mixed with my Rings template. And of course all cutesy scrapbook sea life should have over-sized googly eyes!

Check out Kiwi Lane's Facebook page for more ideas!

DT Doodles #42

Kiwi Lane forced me to take a break last week when they didn't post a sketch...

But I'm baaaaaack!

-side note: "old" horror movies are the best!-

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

The color ended up a little funky... You'll just have to trust me that it's bright and cute and the background is Kraft colored and not brownish weirdness.

I stayed pretty true to the sketch this time! I only messed with the photo area and added another template in the middle and a sunshine and no flowers... Pretty close for me!

I love all the layers in this one! The whole thing is surprisingly flat and un-embellished, but I liked it that way. This time. Watch my next layout be swimming in glitter!

Over-embellished layout coming soon!

Layout for August

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group will be making in a week-ish:

We are using the Surfs Up paper packet with Paradise Bakers Twine and Blue Epoxy Bubbles.

I got a little crazy with the twine... but in a good way! I followed the "waves" with blue and tied little knots to make "rope" with the yellow.

I love the big sunshine! Honestly everything about this layout was based around making the giant sunshine on the right!

Let me know if you'd like to join us!

July Layout

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group is making for July:

We are using twine, buttons, dimensional banners, and the nautical-themed Tommy paper packet.

And since I don't own a yacht, it became a summer-themed paper packet!

The cute paper-pieced pinwheels are from a past Stamp Of The Month... June I think?

Anyway, I like 'em!

Let me know if you want to join us!

Kiwi Lane Time Again!

Not quite the last minute, but getting close!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

One of the fabulous Kiwi Lane designers did a really cute 4th of July layout awhile back... and so I needed to do my own!

It's hard to see, but the letters and stars are glittered. Hmmm... You'll just have to trust me:

As of now, I am the ONLY entry (I might actually win!), but check HERE after midnight to see all the other last-minute-ers!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
