KL October Scraplift Challenge

Kiwi Lane is starting something a little different for their bi-monthly challenges... scraplifting!!!

Can I just say I LOVE scraplifting?! Someone else already did all the creative work and you just get to build on their tried and true ideas!!! Big fan!

Our first scraplift challenge is a card from the second Kiwi Lane Idea Book on page 146.

Here is my take on it:

I didn't change much, did I? Sometimes you just don't mess with the cuteness...

Although I did add a bit of sparkle to my edges:

And of course dimension to my flower:

You have plenty of time, so check out Kiwi Lane's blog HERE and scraplift your own!

And here was my sample:

I wanted to use the Playtime set in a pretty way and I think I succeeded! I REALLY like how this one turned out!!!

Just a touch of gold on my dragonfly:

And of course some dimension between layers:

Ta-da!

Not gonna lie, I cut out a bunch of these to use in the future...

Go make your own :)

KL August Card Sketch

Ok...

I got a *little* sucked into the OLYMPICS, so this is late!

Here is Kiwi Lane's card sketch and printable:

And here is my sample:

I loved the printable! I just had to use more than one word element:

Since I really wanted the words to shine, I kept the embellishments to a twine-bow minimum. But it needed something... so I chopped off the bottom of the card along the edge of my template so it's fun to open:

Add a strip of cute paper inside and you're good to go:

Bonus- less space for writing! I always feel like I'm rambling in cards...

Hurry and stop by Kiwi Lane's blog HERE to enter.

KL July Card Sketch

Wow.

It's JULY?!

Whew!

Here is Kiwi Lane's FREE printable/sketch for this crazy month:

And here is my sample card:

You know, normally I'm not a huge yellow gold fan... My Dad is a jeweler so I've always had options! I always choose white gold/silver when it's on my skin. But for some reason I am LOVING the shiny gold trend for scrapbooking:

Remember vellum?! LOVE the polka dots!!!

I like that I can go anyway I want with Kiwi Lane's printable sentiment:

Skiwampus and a little crazy in this case!

KL June Card Sketch

I LOVE the colors on Kiwi Lane's card sketch printable this month:

Also who doesn't love TWO card sketches?!

Here is my sample of card #1:

This one is my favorite! I'm such a sucker for a Kiwi Lane flower and a little bling...

And my sample of card #2:

Possible Father's Day card...? Might need some tweaking, but I really like the "gears" look!

KL May Card Sketch

Here is Kiwi Lane's card sketch/printable for the month:

Pretty much my only change to the sketch was to keep the ring whole... I liked this one just how it was!

I really like the printable options this time:

Boy birthday cards are SO HARD for some reason!!!

Kiwi Lane is doing something FUN and different with the card sketch this month... A free printable!!!

Go to Kiwi Lane's blog HERE to see the sketch, print your own sentiment, and enter to WIN!

Here is my sample:

Not to brag, but I LOVE how this one turned out!

Cute printable:

I added just a bit of glitter pen around the white edges of my butterfly and the outside of the card base. Butterflies always look better with a little shimmer!

I popped up my flower petals and all 3 layers of butterfly wings:

It's even cuter in real life!!!

KL March Card Sketch

Holy cow!

Is it really March?!

I'm getting old...

Here is the awesome card sketch challenge from Kiwi Lane this week:

And here is my sample:

I had fun with this one!

I also went a *tad* overboard with my new favorite gold foil tape:

I LOVE the shine!!!

I popped up the "petals" and centers just a bit:

And added a few dots of gold pearl paint for even more shine!

KL February Card Sketch

Kiwi Lane Sketch time!!!

If you hurry and participate you could even get your Valentine's cards out by the actual Valentine's Day! It would be a first for me at least...

Here is the sketch:

And here is my sample:

 Here's the inside:

I think it's funny!

I swiped the card, hearts, and arrow edges with pink and red paint, stamped a border around the card outside, and hand doodled around my center arrow:

Added a bit of foam dimension of course:

And I think I ended up with a bright happy Valentine's Day card!

KL January Card Sketch

First sketch of the year!!!

Go to Kiwi Lane's blog HERE for details to participate and win.

Here is the sketch:

I LOVE the Winter Template!!!

I wasn't quite sure which direction I wanted to go with this one... so I made two! Both my cards are 5x7 and greeting-less to make things more versatile.

Sample #1:

Believe it or not, this simple and elegant cardstock-only approach is a BIG challenge for me! I do really like how it turned out!

Just some inking and a bit of Liquid Pearls for embellishments:

Done!

Card #2:

Yep. VERY different approach here! I like this one, too!

I lined just the edges of my snowflake with Shimmer Trim so the card wasn't totally overwhelmed with glitter:

Fun stuff!

KL Card Sketch #12

Ummm... oops!

Here is the Kiwi Lane card sketch for a couple weeks ago:

And the bonus second sketch:

Now obviously you can no longer enter to win... but here are my samples anyway!

Card #1:

I added my favorite Close To My Heart shimmer trim to the ends of the mittens! So sparkly!

If I do a template right along the bottom edge, I like to cut my whole card along with it:

Just an easy way to add a little extra interest!

Card #2:

I think this Christmas Light template is my current favorite!

Same bottom edge treatment:

Now to make a bazillion more and mail them... yesterday...

KL Card Sketch #11

HOLY CRAP it's NOVEMBER!!!

At the risk of sounding super old, where exactly did this year go?!

Anyway...

To soften the blow, Kiwi Lane has another cute card sketch challenge up on their blog! Go HERE for all the details and enter to win!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my first sample:

The only change to the sketch on this one is the leaf in place of the flower. I did this because I desperately want it to cool off and actually BE fall already!!! Enough with the heat!

It is pathetically difficult to find big wooden buttons! I had to settle for these:

These brown buttons probably look better with the bright twine than the wood ones... but I'd still like to know where to buy them...

And here is my second sample:

I unearthed my paints again! This time I wanted a softer, not so "distressed" look, so I made sure to hold my foam brush perpendicular to my paper edges for a smoother line.

One of my favorite things about Kiwi Lane's philosophy is that I don't have to use TONS of embellishments!!! Just fun shapes and edges that let my paper shine! All I added on this card was paint and pearl dots:

And it works perfectly! Hardly any embellishments and it still looks finished and polished. Love it!
