KL Scrapbook Sketch #12

Aw! The last sketch of the year! :(

Here is the Kiwi Lane scrapbook sketch for this week:

Yep! A one-pager!

So of course I turned it into a two-pager:

Although it actually works really well with just the one:

I altered the sketch just a tad and went a little more than a tad overboard with my Christmas light template... but I REALLY like it!!!

TONS of card-border-template layers on this one:

I love how my bakers twine worked on this layout:

Definitely have to pull that stuff out more often...

This is your LAST CHANCE to WIN this year, so go to Kiwi Lane's blog HERE to enter!

KL Card Sketch #12

Ummm... oops!

Here is the Kiwi Lane card sketch for a couple weeks ago:

And the bonus second sketch:

Now obviously you can no longer enter to win... but here are my samples anyway!

Card #1:

I added my favorite Close To My Heart shimmer trim to the ends of the mittens! So sparkly!

If I do a template right along the bottom edge, I like to cut my whole card along with it:

Just an easy way to add a little extra interest!

Card #2:

I think this Christmas Light template is my current favorite!

Same bottom edge treatment:

Now to make a bazillion more and mail them... yesterday...

KL Scrapbook Sketch #11

New sketch and new chance to WIN this week at Kiwi Lane's blog HERE!

This is the sketch:

Now this sketch would be PERFECT the way it is... if I ever took pictures that could be cropped... so I had to alter things a bit for my sample:

I wanted to use the Autumn leaf template in a non-autumn way, so I figured spring leaves would be cute! I LOVE them! I doodled just a few leaf-vein lines after I cut them out:

Ummm... ya... that whole thing I said last time about how Kiwi Lane templates work great with minimal embellishments? Well they also work great with TONS of embellishments. Like if you wanted to use up a whole package of pewter brads or something. Just saying.

I lined the edges of some of my templates with wide ric-rac:

I like the more subtle textured-white-on-textured-white thing going on!

I decided I needed something to draw attention back to my photos and bring in more of the brown from my edges; so I made fun photo corners:

I just punched a one inch circle and cut it into four "equal" (I don't measure things like this) parts. New fun look!

KL Card Sketch #11

HOLY CRAP it's NOVEMBER!!!

At the risk of sounding super old, where exactly did this year go?!

Anyway...

To soften the blow, Kiwi Lane has another cute card sketch challenge up on their blog! Go HERE for all the details and enter to win!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my first sample:

The only change to the sketch on this one is the leaf in place of the flower. I did this because I desperately want it to cool off and actually BE fall already!!! Enough with the heat!

It is pathetically difficult to find big wooden buttons! I had to settle for these:

These brown buttons probably look better with the bright twine than the wood ones... but I'd still like to know where to buy them...

And here is my second sample:

I unearthed my paints again! This time I wanted a softer, not so "distressed" look, so I made sure to hold my foam brush perpendicular to my paper edges for a smoother line.

One of my favorite things about Kiwi Lane's philosophy is that I don't have to use TONS of embellishments!!! Just fun shapes and edges that let my paper shine! All I added on this card was paint and pearl dots:

And it works perfectly! Hardly any embellishments and it still looks finished and polished. Love it!

November Layout

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group will be making this month:

We are using the Sangria Paper Packet, the matching flower Sangria Assortment, the Bronze Shimmer Trim, and the Durables Artisan Studs.

Usually the resin flowers in the matching assortments are a little too thick for me, but these ones are just about perfect!

I left this page title-less since it could go TONS of different ways... In my mind the title goes on the left page right underneath the shimmer trim:

Since the paper is fall-ish, I thought it would be fun to make flowers out of leaves:

And by "fun" I mean "fussy cutting for eternity"... At least I ended up with pretty results!

Let me know if you'd like to make your own!

Nevermore for Chantre

Due to my inability to function during a few days of mass craziness, my Aunt Chantre only gets 2 card ideas this time!

We used the Nevermore Paper Packet, the Silver Metallic Tape, the Silver Sequins, and the Little Monsters stamp set.

Card #1:

Card #2:

Not super happy with my coloring on the little witch girl... but not bad for a crazy person!

Good luck Chantre!!!

October Layout

Ummm... oops!

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group ALREADY made... since it's late October...:

We used the Nevermore Paper Packet, Silver Metallic Tape, and Silver Sequins. LOVE the new Silver Metallic Tape!!!

These are still some of my favorite letter stamps ever made:

Any day I get to use my matching Martha Stewart spider web punches is a GOOD day:

The pictures going on this one are a group of disgusting snails attacking the pretty pumpkin on the front porch that my daughter painstakingly painted to look like a silver spider web... ew...

Anyway, Happy almost Halloween!!!

KL Scrapbook Sketch #10

It's layout sketch time at Kiwi Lane!!!

Go to their blog HERE to see how to WIN!

I LOVE Halloween, so I LOVE this sketch:

And here is my layout:

Yes, I know my "cookies" are messy. They are supposed to match the 3-year-old's cookies in the pictures...

They actually took a SURPRISING amount of time to make:

First I traced my Kiwi Lane templates and cut them out like normal. Then I traced another time and cut wiggly just inside the shape for my "frosting". I inked both edges to make them stand out. Finally I grabbed my Liquid Glass, enamel dots, Pearl Pens, and micro beads and just went nuts! Repeat...

Perfect toddler Halloween Cookies!!!

KL Card Sketch #10

Woo Hoo!!!

TWO card sketches up on Kiwi Lane today!

Visit their blog HERE to participate and WIN!

Here is sketch #1:

Here is my sample:

I changed it up a little bit... this came together SO FAST!!! Love my Kiwi Lane templates and Close To My Heart stamps!

Just the right amount of dimension on this one:

Mail-able but not flat!

Here is sketch #2:

Here is my sample:

I really liked this sketch just the way it was! Very clean and pretty!

A bit more dimension on this one:

I learned that when you line a shape with bakers twine you don't have to add foam dots... it pops up all by itself!

Sniff

My husband was out of town and that means I sleep EVEN LESS than normal...

And also that I don't feel guilty about scrapbooking at 1:00 in the morning!

I just bought this adorable Doodlebug paper from a warehouse sale and hadn't even put it away yet and it was just sitting there on the floor perfectly matching the photos I was holding of my daughter smelling flowers...

So I used it!

LOVE how my Kiwi Lane Lazy Susan/ Sunflowers turned out!

I just penciled in some flourishes and went over them with my Close To My Heart Pink Shimmer Gel... still SO MAD they discontinued that stuff!!

Anyway, find some paper on your floor and make your own!

KL Scrapbook Sketch #9

It's my favorite time at Kiwi Lane!

SCRAPBOOK sketch time!!!

Go to their blog HERE to see all the details and find out which template set you can WIN!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my sample:

I decided to skip the flower from the sketch and REALLY focus on butterflies! Luckily I really like butterflies and had *quite* a few choices for paper...

Kiwi Lane wanted to focus on all the fun ways you can use their awesome mini-border templates. I LOVE their mini-borders!!! All you have to do is stack them and it shows off your cute paper:

Your super shiny BUTTERFLY cute paper:

And of course I always like to pop up my layers for dimension:

Happy with this one!

HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!!

HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY to all my AWESOME Grandparents and my kid's Grandparents!!!

I wish all of you a great day in Heaven or on Earth!

It's hard to stamp nicely on textured cardstock...

but I'm out of smooth white paper (huh?!) so it had to work!

I think cards are more interesting when they open up differently:

Hopefully everyone else does, too...

HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!!
