DT Doodles #25

Ok, I would have been done with this one MUCH sooner if I could have resisted hand stitching on my layout...

...but I couldn't!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

See how cute the stitching is?! I even used my new letter template to stitch a title:

The photos are my baby in a bunting I made, so it makes sense.

I also traced the edges of everything with black marker and yes, that is my shadow at the bottom.

It's really close to midnight!!!

I used all Fancy Pants paper and the Kiwi Lane Scallops templates.

Thanks for looking!

Sunshine for Everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Fabulously Artsy Tresa Black!!!

Because she is THAT kind of person, for her OWN birthday she made a card sketch for us bunch of strangers:

I knew right off that I would make the circle a sunshine. I have a friend in desperate need of some sunshine... and I'm out of money so she gets a card!

So here is my card:

My sunshine stamp ended up needing a larger circle than the sketch, so I had to alter my sentiment a bit.

I think it's SIGNIFICANTLY brighter and maybe busier than my normal cards...? Maybe no...? Either way, I really like how it turned out!

After I stamped my sunshine I used my pearl pens to add a bit pf prettiness!

I really hope this cheers up my friend at least a little bit!

Happy sunshine!

June Layouts

It was a double-paper-packet month for my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group!

I decided we needed a "boy" layout and a "girl" layout:

For our boy layout we used the Later Sk8tr paper, pewter brads, and blue chevron ribbon.

I was very happy to find out that the chevron ribbon looks like it's tapering to other people, too, and that I am not crazy or blind...

stupid optical illusion!

For our girl layout we used the Claire paper packet with the same blue chevron ribbon.

To make any product girly, just add bows!

Both layouts ended up being pretty quick and easy to create...

I may have to do something deviously complicated next time!

DT Doodles #24

I think this finished layout is my favorite I've made so far for the Kiwi Lane challenges!

Probably because of the gorgeous papers...

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

Click on the photo to make it bigger so you can see how PRETTY the paper is!!! I used My Mind's Eye, Teresa Collins, and Close To My Heart paper with some really old Imaginese and Prima flowers. The Kiwi Lane templates are Paisley Place, Scallops, and Tiny Brackets.

This is when I wish I could show you the pictures of my little girl that go on this layout! They match perfectly, trust me!

I felt like doing something super fancy for this one... something hard... something that my mother would call a waste of time... so I box pleated strips of tulle!

Yes, it took for-ev-er; and yes, it was worth it!

And it matches the pleated tulle on my daughter's shirt in the picture!

I told you, the photos match perfectly.

Thanks again to Kiwi Lane for "making" me scrapbook this week!

HAPPY (late) FATHER'S DAY!

Well, it's a little past Father's Day, but here is the card my Father, Father-in-law, and husband all received:

The paper and stamps are all Close To My Heart. I also used my little Tiny Attacher stapler from Tim Holtz. I thought it added a touch of manly-ness. But what I like most is:

My Duct Tape rosette!

It ended up being a bigger pain to make than I planned... but I love how it turned out! Big touch of manly-ness!

Since I consider Duct Tape a very basic and essential "tool", I am entering this card in the Heart2Heart "Tool Time" challenge. Go HERE to see what other people consider tools!

Happy Father's Day!

DT Doodles #23

I have to say, I am pretty darn proud of myself for finishing this one!

We had a family birthday party and a friend birthday party for my boy, I had a bridal shower, my husband had a bachelor party, my husband switched jobs, we had 2 baseball games, a family dinner out, Father's Day, 2 late night parties, and my Grandparents were in town!

Just today I made 2 batches of cookies, an ice-cream cake, and cupcakes!

And a layout!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

I used Kiwi Lane Scallops, Nature, Accents, Large Brackets, and Tiny Brackets templates with My Minds Eye, Close To My Heart, and something really old and random but the perfect shade of yellow paper...

Anyway, I like it!

I used this really fun technique to create my accent flowers:

It was the featured technique for this weeks Tip Time Tuesday at Kiwi Lane. Go HERE to learn how to "build down" your own accents!

I've decided that even though I don't win, I really like entering challenges... it FORCES me to scrapbook :) I can't seem to get anything done without a deadline lately!

I'll post my Father's Day card tomorrow!

For Squishy-Wishy

Ok, his name is not REALLY "Squishy-Wishy"... but it's an awfully cute nick-name for an awfully cute baby!

Here is what I made him (or his mom, I guess):

It's a baby-boy mini-book! There are tons of little pull-out tabs, lift up tabs, and pocket tabs all over! Here are all the pages:

Fun, huh?!

I used pretty much all retired Close To My Heart stuff: the album, the paper, the felt... but at least the chipboard stars, ribbon, and buttons are all current!

Welcome baby Wish!

DT Doodles #22

Sketch time again!

(I have 2 Shutterfly coupons that expire Sunday, so if I didn't do this first, it would never get done)

This is definitely the earliest I have EVER entered ANY challenge... what will I do Sunday night?

(...The Shutterfly books...)

Here is the sketch:

I liked it so much that I searched through quite a few of my bazillions of photos to find some that I could trim to these exact dimensions!

Also the highlighted manufacturer for June is MY MIND'S EYE!!!

I LOVE My Mind's Eye!

I have *ahem* a few of their collections, so I figured I would use Quite Contrary Whirly Bird:

Whirly Bird goes well with the cute pictures of my crazy toddler!

It's hard to tell, but the papers are super glittery, too... see:

I like to pop up the petals of any flowers that peek out of my layers:

Speaking of layers, did you notice there are TONS?! I used the Scallops, Brackets, Spook Alley, and Wildflowers templates.

This layout was really fun to make!

DT Doodles #21

This one almost didn't get finished! I'll show you why in the next few days...

But I've entered every Kiwi Lane challenge for a long time now; it's difficult to "miss" a week!

Plus it's the only way I can justify scrapbooking :)

Here is the sketch:

The Design Team girl's layout was really cute and really different from anything I usually do (go see what I mean HERE) so I tried to incorporate some of her style into my layout along with the actual sketch. I tried:

Sorry for the slightly fuzzy photo. It is WAAAAY too sunny here (I hate summer) so I had to find a corner and turn off my flash and apparently I moved but naptime is almost over... So click on it the picture to make it bigger and that might help!

The designer outlined everything with different colored pens. I don't usually do that, but I LOVE the way it looks on other people's layouts! So I thought I'd give it a try:

I still think I suck at "doodling", but I do like how the finished product turned out!

I used the Kiwi Lane Abbie Road 12" templates and Big Floral with Basic Grey and Close To My Heart paper. All the little embellishments and journaling spots are Basic Grey as well.

Thanks for looking!
