Tomorrow!

One more day!!!

See?!:

I LOVE my countdown... and my new little tree... and basically Halloween in general!

So here is a bit more of my new-this-year Halloween decor:

The "Spooky" letters and my countdown were both done with Die Cuts With A View paper distressed in black ink.

You can't tell, but these bats are glittery. Trust me, it's awesome!

I know these don't necessarily scream Halloween... but they're witch shoes. Shoes! And if there's one thing I love more than Halloween, it's SHOES!!! The paper is Authentique's awesome new "Thriller" line.

Yes, everything but the tree is from The Wood Connection. Addicted.

HAPPY (day before) HALLOWEEN!!!

Batty BIrthday

Just a quick birthday card for all those lucky people with Halloween-ish birthdays!

I decided the saying was appropriate for bats instead of birds for the season.

The inside says "it's your birthday!"

The words and bat are heat embossed. I pieced together the little purple hat so he was better dressed for the party :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Paula and Becky at least...!

DT Doodles #41

Finished early again!

Here is the Kiwi Lane sketch for the week:

As much as I would LOVE to do Halloween pages, I just don't have the Halloween templates! ...yet...

Plus it's really hard to get in the proper Halloween spirit when it's setting heat records outside. Stupid ever-lasting Summer!

Anyway, here is my layout:

Have I mentioned lately that I really like my bracket templates? :)

The pictures are my little one rolling and jumping like a loon on my bed. Remember how HUGE your parents' bed was?

I used some of my (ahem) rather substantial My Mind's Eye paper stash. This is waaaaay back from the first Lost and Found collection. Vintage!

I love how the templates are see through! I just placed it over the paper to see where to trace to get the word "love" exactly where I wanted.

That's it for me! Go HERE to see other layouts.

DT Doodles #40

Holy cow!!!

Can you believe we are up to #40?!

Here is the Kiwi Lane sketch:

I needed to change it just a bit for my photos again:

Trust me, the colors mesh better in real life! I needed some pink! She's a girl with a girl dog!

I went a tad overboard with the tags... but I really like it! It's different from my usual "clean line" style. Sometimes it's fun to go outside your comfort zone.

This paper is adorable. It's old Basic Grey. Max and Whiskers I think...? I tore the edges of the swoop and the tags against my Kiwi Lane templates. It's scary at first, but it really does work! And it's quick and easy. Go HERE to see a tutorial explaining how it's done.

Yes, the 2002 date is correct.

I don't scrapbook in order, remember?

And yes, I am VERY behind!

Happy crazy 40th week of the year!

Layouts for October

Here are the layouts my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group will be making in October... if we can ever find an open Saturday...:

For both layouts we are using the Laughing Lola paper packet. This layout also uses the Round Durables in gold and the Glitz Glitter Gel in almond.

LOVE the glitter gel! The paisley decorations are made by stamping the same paisley in different colors, inking the separate edges, and just piecing them together.

This layout still uses the Laughing Lola paper, but this time with the Mini Medley Accents in black. ...And some more glitter gel!

I happen to believe that the more black glitter on a Halloween decoration, the better! So I needed a layout to showcase all my bling-ed out decorations! The sequins that come in the black accent pack are so fun! I'm not going to lie, they are a PAIN to work with, but fun :)

Oh, oops! We are also using the Shimmer Tape in black. Another of my favorite embellishments.

If you are in the Utah County area, come join us!

DT Doodles #39

It was strange.

The Kiwi Lane challenge for the week was a CHALLENGE, not a SKETCH!

The challenge was to make a card with a decorative edge.

...and then they later happily added a few card sketches for those of us that love them!

I picked this card:

Because I have been wanting to copy it since I saw it in the Kiwi Lane Idea Book.

Here is mine:

I used more a more subdued color palate for mine since the occasion it's going to is not necessarily cheerful. But I think the darker colors sophisticate it a bit. Which is good :)

Some of the very first Kiwi Lane templates I purchased were the 8" Mini Borders. I LOVE them! As you can see, they work perfectly to add decorative edges to the sides of long cards.

Go HERE to see some cute challenge cards!

Off to work on Halloween...

DT Doodles #38

Holy cow! Two post in one day!

I had the pictures and the papers all picked out for this sketch forever ago... just a slow week I guess?

Here is the Kiwi Lane sketch for this week:

And here is my layout:

I had to tweak it a bit for my photo size and orientation, but I really like how it turned out!

TONS of layers on this one! So instead of inking the edges, I thought they might stand out more if I doodled on them? I think it worked :) It also mimics the outer edge of the flowers on my daughter's dress in the pictures eventually going on this layout.

I had to use some of my ginormous stash of fabric flowers on this one. My baby ripped a flower headband off in the pictures, so you see, it was necessary!

Go HERE to see other interpretations!

Thanks for peeking!

Happy World Card Making Day! ...yesterday...

So yesterday was World Cardmaking Day!

I know, who knew?

Kiwi Lane issued a card making challenge in honor of this holiday I didn't know existed :)

Create a card using at least 3 of the following:
-ribbon
-buttons
-the words "smile" or "you"
-glitter
-the color green
-washi tape
-tags
-a pinwheel

I decided to use THE ENTIRE list! ALL of it!

Here is my card:

It is important to know that I really did make this card yesterday!!! On the actual World Card Making day! Just really really close to midnight so it couldn't be posted til today...

You would think with that big of a list I would feel really limited and it would be difficult and take forever... But this was actually a pretty quick card! Sometimes it's nice to be "limited" in what you can use. Then I don't have to stare at my walls of supplies and be frozen by too many possibilities!

Anyway, I like it a lot!

Happy Day-After World Card Making Day!

Go make a card :)
