KL Scrapbook Sketch #6

Quick!!!

You have about 25 hours left to enter the Kiwi Lane sketch challenge for this week!!!

Go to their blog HERE for all the details!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my sample:

I changed things up a bit, but I REALLY like it!!! Boy layouts can be soooo hard! Luckily quite a few companies are now making cute and/or manly boyish lines!

I strayed a bit from my trusty Thickers for my title on this one:

I stamped over a sticker for my "little" boy's name and used some super old chipboard for the rest.

Here is where I went a bit overboard with my templates:

But overboard in a good way! ...at least I think so... When you have such a cute paper line with so many cute patterns you just want to use them all!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

What does a crafty girl do for Father's Day decorations...?

Why she makes a fishing wreath, naturally!

In my adventures as Camp Director I happened upon some clearance fishing ribbon and little fishies. So of course I bought them! And they only sat on my floor for a few months before I actually used them!!! This is good for me...

Here's how to make your own!

All you really need is a wire wreath frame and TONS of ribbon:

Cut your ribbon into strips at whatever length pleases you. Mine are 8" for the inner row, then 9", then 11", and finally 12" for the outer row. How many you need will depend on the width of your ribbon and how close together you feel like tying them.

Start on the outer wire first. Fold your ribbon in half, loop it through the wire, and pull the ends through to tie on the ribbon like this:

And repeat:

Eventually you will finish the entire outer row:

Just repeat the tying process with your other ribbons, working inward, and in no time you will have this:

Here is a close up of my ribbons:

I really wanted the fishing patterns to show, so I didn't smash my ties together too much... Also I had a limited amount of ribbon and no chance of finding more at the store...

Now you can stop here and your wreath will be lovely!

Or if you happen to find yourself in possession of some matching wooden fishies, this is when you would tie them onto some spaces in your ribbon ties like this:

I left the edges of all my ribbon and fishie tying raw because after all this IS a MAN wreath!

There's an oxymoron for you...

The ribbons all bounce off each other to give the wreath great dimension on your door:

I do love the fishies!

Go make your own!

Layouts for June

Yep, that's right!

LayoutS!

Close To My Heart had a special paper packet for May only, so my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group is doubling up this month!

Layout #1:

This layout uses the Jackson Paper Packet, the Dimensional Elements Banners, the Glacier Extra Thick Twine, and the Durables Triangle Studs.

The title is my favorite:

And lately if I don't designate a spot for journaling it's not going to happen... so:

Layout #2:

This layout uses the special Taste Of Summer Paper Packet, the Dimensional Elements Banners, and the Flamingo Enamel Dots.

Obviously I was still in a big fun title mood:

And my Kiwi Lane flowers managed to find their way on here, too:

I REALLY like both of these!!! It's so fun to be "forced" to make extra-good pages for my group to copy! Seems to be the only way I get any scrapbooking done lately...

KL Card Sketch #6

Well...

With Girl's Camp and everything the deadline for this sketch challange is way over...

But I thought you might like to see my 2 example cards anyway!

Here is the sketch:

Card #1:

This card I'm hoping was perfect for a teacher-thank-you card a few weeks ago! I popped up the star and all the edges of my borders, of course.

Card #2:

I knew if I didn't make them early this year it wasn't going to happen at all... So here is an only slightly out-out-season patriotic card!

Go to Kiwi Lane's original post HERE for a list of templates used.

It's still a great sketch!

Even a few weeks late...

MWM Tulip #8

I'm baaaaaaaaaack!!!

Wow. Being Camp Director for Girls' Camp TOTALLY killed me. I got by on pure stubbornness and adrenaline... til I got home. Then I CRASHED!!

Long story short, I'm "better" now and decided to participate in Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojo sketch Tulip #8!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my 2-page version:

Yes, I am a total nerd and took pictures of my kids eating pizza pie on March 14th this year because it was:

Get it?!

It was even accurate 2 extra digits this year!!!

Ok, so I'm a dork, but the page is still awesome!

I made a pi symbol out of my trusty Thickers and luckily had a bunch of duplicates so I could list pi out as far as my Ipad's calculator listed across the top of my page:

And just in case you need more of the story behind the Pi Day photos that are not developed yet (It's only June after all) here is my journaling:

I started to stamp it all... but bailed after I messed up at the very end of the first line and realized what a migraine I set myself up to get... so I just stamped the word "pie" for emphasis.

There is still a few more hours left to enter! Go HERE for all the details!
