HAPPY EASTER!!!

This is my last Easter decor post.

Promise.

Since it's actually THE DAY, here are my Easter letters:

And my favorite part:

Love the little ducky. I guess he might be a little chicky...?

It's a ducky.

Now go find eggs and eat ham!!!

Easter Decor #4

Since we always somehow end up dyeing eggs at the last second, I thought we should save all the EGGS til last!

Of course in pairs of threes:

I've tried, I really have!!! It just HAS to be a set of 3! I've even bought just 2 of something, and then had to go back for a third...

I may have an actual problem...

Again, 3 eggs:

Only these ones are covered in BLING!

My husband's exact words, "Wow. Those look....80s..."

I'm trying to decide if I'm offended or not.

Only the fronts have rhinestones. I just tied ribbon up the sides:

But it's sparkly ribbon!

So, usually at the Wood Connection everything is so cute already that I never feel the need to get super creative and alter things... but there was no "three things on a stick" option for Easter!

I know...

So I had to make one:

Well, my awesome husband (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) actually did most of it. I just got 2 small and 1 medium eggs, posts, and square stands. He drilled the holes and I did all the fun girly stuff!

I sanded all the edges and then inked them a few shades darker:

I am in love with this Springtime paper line from DoodleBug!

The carrots:

The bunnies:

The birds:

I need it ALL!!!

Easter Decor #3

Time to look at some CHICKS!!!

Eew, not like that!

Easter chicks!

Like these cute little guys in eggs:

I love the long goony legs! I'm a firm believer that if you can use the word "goony" to describe something, that thing should have googly eyes!

I can't quite take credit for the cuteness of this next one:

The big one has a baby!!!

My mom came up with the idea and my sister found the world's cutest chick paper:

So really all I did is buy the stuff to make a copy!

I now realize that I need more "chicky" stuff...

Don't worry, I'll fix it :)

Easter Decor #2

Today is all about BUNNIES!

And glitter, apparently, because that seems to be how I do bunny ears...

For example:

Yep. That's a bit of glitter!

Only it's the super fun chunky iridescent flaky glitter!

Thought you might need a close up of each bunny.

And done!

This has letters in it too, but the bunny is still the main focus:

And also has glittery ears:

Obviously!

I'm fairly certain the real Easter Bunny has at least some glitter on his ears...

But this guy finally doesn't:

I just finished him yesterday, so I made SURE that he didn't have glittery ears!

That makes one...

Hoppy Easter!

Easter Decor #1

Darn the Wood Connection!!!

It's obviously all their fault for existing and forcing me to go into their store and twisting my arms to buy ALL their stuff...

So I have a lot of wooden Easter decor!

I decided to break up the bunny and chick and egg monotony and just show you a few things at a time.

Today we will start with things that are Easter FOOD!

Starting with my favorite:

I love this one!!! In the store the bunny was just plain, but me husband is AWESOME and humored me with his manly saw or dremel of some sort and did this:

My "chocolate" bunny has a bite out of it's ears!!! Sooooo much more fun!

And what is Easter without Peeps:

Turns out super-fine glitter looks like peep sugar!

I had to give in and buy the vinyl that went with this one. It was just too perfect... only it came saying "peeps welcome" so I just cut it up and swapped the order before I applied it!

Now I need some Cadbury Mini Eggs...

Stay turned for lots more!

Easter Wreath!

Since I am on a wreath-for-every-holiday kick, I made this:

My Easter Ribbon Wreath!

I'm sure you loaded up on JoAnns 50% off Easter ribbon a few weeks ago and would like to make one as well! Here's how:

You will need:
***some type of wreath frame (mine is one of those cheap straw ones, just covered in white ribbon)
***a bazillion strips of ribbon cut to 4.5 inches in length (I used 12 rolls of 9 foot ribbon)
***scissors to cut said ribbon
***glue gun and TONS of glue gun sticks

Here is where I cheated. The only not-very-helpful tutorial I could find about ribbon wreaths says to SEW all the strips of ribbon in half. So for me, that would be about 288 little strips... not going to happen!!!

I just folded mine in half and put glue on each side:

Then I stuck it to my frame with the little ends flaring out so the ribbon stands up straight:

I decided to do a big batch of each type of ribbon I had at a time to make sure things were evenly distributed.

Here is my lovely wreath in progress after one go round:

And after four:

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Not hard, just time!

See all these holes:

Make them all go away!

Pretty soon:

Ta Daaaaaa! Finished Easter Ribbon Wreath!

I like how this one looks so much I just might copy it with different ribbon for a different occasion!

One last tip, I will say it was nice to have my wide ribbon be wired. After all was glued and done I could "fluff" it out to even any gaps!

Let me know if you make one!

April Layout

Happy (really late) Easter!

Here is the layout my scrapbooking group is going to make on Saturday:

We are using the Stella Paper Packet, Sunset Mini-Medley Accents, and the Paradise Blooms Paper Flowers...

...and my Martha Stewart fringe scissors! Perfect "grass" for our colored stamped eggs to hide in.

I made a flower banner for my title using a very retired alphabet set:

There are a lot of brads at play here, so this is what I do to the back:

Yes, it's ugly. But it's just the back. And covering your brads (ribbon, stitching, etc..) with good old inexpensive tape from the junk drawer helps your page slide into the protector SOOOOO much easier!

I am entering this layout into the super-fun Close To My Heart, Heart2Heart Challenge: Easter! Check out their blog HERE to play along every week. The best part is that you have until the end of the month to enter!

So people like me that get to Easter 2 weeks late can still have a chance ;)
