Basic Sketch

Here is the Basic Sketch on Kiwi Lane's Facebook page for this week:

Here is my version, turned into a 2-pager of course:

Although it actually works as just a single page:

But who has only ONE picture of ANYTHING?!

I used probably my favorite paper of all time: My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary. I just love it! The color and pattern mixes work perfectly with all the layers in this sketch:

I like to back my 12x12 decorative edged paper with a neutral color. Then when it goes in my scrapbook I don't have to worry about some weird color of another page background showing through the design.

I always pop up my petals:

It's a quick easy touch of dimension that doesn't require more bulk!

DT Doodles #14

It's Christmas in July over at Kiwi Lane! They have some fun sales going on, so you might want to go check things out on their blog HERE.

Here is the Christmas-themed DT Doodles #14:

And here is my Christmas-themed more-tree and less-ornament version:

I used a mix of a bunch of old Close To My Heart paper and my Winter and Tiny Holiday Kiwi Lane templates. Plus a few stamps and a HUGE glittered alphabet:

The trees are still my favorite part:

To make the full tree, I just traced the Tiny Holiday 1/2 tree mirroring itself. Then of course I added little sparkle spots with my favorite glitter gel.

Merry (obscenely early) Christmas!!!

Basic Sketch

There's still time!!!

You have until midnight tonight to complete this Basic Sketch from Kiwi Lane:

Here is mine:

Don't fret! If I can whip one up on a Sunday afternoon you can certainly make one on a Sunday evening!

This layout actually came together really quickly. I limited myself to a yellow/gold color scheme which SEVERELY limited my paper options... so less rummaging time!

Instead of inking edges, I just outlined in gold pen. I didn't have the right size of gold letters, so I made my own with blank chipboard and gold embossing powder:

I have a bazillion stamps, so I was able to find the perfect saying pretty quick, too:

Ok, these flowers took a little time:

But I LOVE them so it's alright!

I traced my Kiwi Lane Accessories flower template and looped ribbon around the inside of each petal. I outlined in gold pen again, added a center, and done!

Hurry and go make your own!!!

Perfectly stamped with journaling lines in a half circle.

DT Doodles #13

Why am I already done with a challenge that just barely started today?

Well, as I am now on the DESIGN TEAM for Kiwi Lane, I get them EARLY to make examples!!!

I'm not quite sure if I can handle all the awesomeness...

Yep! I can!

Here is Kiwi Lane's DT Doodles #13:

And here is my layout:

I used my Sunnybrook Lane and Scallops 12 inch borders, Tiny Floral, Accents, and Tiny Accents with Teresa Collins Spring Fling paper.

You may notice I added a *few* more flowers than the sketch... I can't help myself! I LOVE the flowers:

Sometimes I don't like to ink my edges, but I still want them to stand out, so I just "line" the edges of my patterned paper with a coordinating color. White in this case:

It's easy and fast and adds just the right amount of pop!

Layout for July

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group is making in July:

I PROMISE the colors are soooo much better than the photograph!!! I just cannot get Kraft paper to come out looking normal!

We are using the Jubilee Paper Packet, the Topiary Chevron Ribbon, the Red Glitter Tape, and the Triangle Durables Studs. Can't get enough of those triangles lately!

I am usually too much of a wimp to stamp directly onto my layout, but I sucked it up this time! I really need to get over that because it always looks so good! ...when it works out...

This cute "border" is just the matching watermelon stamp stamped in a row on Kraft cardstock and cut out. Add some ribbon and Glitter tape and done!

Let me know if you are in the Utah County area and would like to make a fun Summer layout with us!
