DT Doodles #37

I would just like to point out that it is TUESDAY and I have finished a challenge that is not due until SUNDAY!!!

Mind. Blown.

Here is the Kiwi Lane sketch for the week:

I know, a single-pager! Don't worry, I changed it:

You should be able to click on this to make it bigger...? I had to add a bit of blue paper to all the pink since the photos are my manly husband holding not-so-manly pink frosted cookies :)

The whole thing needed some sparkle and shine, so I used my Close To My Heart Glitz gel on the blue and my Viva Pearl pens on the pink. It's a great way to amp up REALLY old paper!

The dotted bracket at the top right is actually a pull-tab for the cookie recipe!

I really love how this one turned out!

Now I need to go make cookies...

DT Doodles #36

After I warmed up to this week's Kiwi Lane sketch and gave myself permission to tweak it a bit, everything went quick and smooth!

Here is the sketch:

Ok, the sketch is a little fuzzy, but the computer is freaking out and at least it made it on the blog!

And here is my layout:

Yep. Christmas! The photos are my husband, brother-in-law, and mother being uncooperative in my attempt to document our Christmas tradition of making candy for the neighbors.

The title is a little hard to make out in the photo, so here's a close up!

Thanks for looking :)

Not Good Enough

Sigh...

I've known I didn't make it for awhile, but it really hits home when I see all the ladies that did :(

Kiwi Lane posted their new design team HERE and I am not on it.

Sigh...

I keep reminding myself that I don't scrapbook to win awards. I don't scrapbook to be popular. And I certainly don't scrapbook just to get free product!

Oh, wait... yes I do...

Anyway, here are the projects I made to "try out" for the design team:

Another crazy box-pleated tulle layout! Still love this paper!

I used the bracket templates and a lot of scraps to make a rainbow card.

I set the actual slippers from the photos in front of me for inspiration for this layout. It turned out perfect!

 Next year's refrigerator calendar.

LOTS of flowers! This one looked especially great with the photos of my wiggle little baby on it :)

Looking back it sucks that I didn't make the design team; but I love everything that I submitted,  I got a lot of scrapbooking done, and I had some good "crafty me" time.

And that should be what matters!

Layout For September

Here is the layout my Close To My Heart scrapbooking group will be making this Saturday:

We are using the ProPlayer paper packet, the grey twist ties, and grey badge buttons. At first I wasn't too crazy about this packet (we are not huge gamers here) but it grew on me!

I do REALLY like the stamps that coordinate with this paper! They are BIG! Perfect title with no thinking required ;)

I cut and folded the twist ties to make extra accents. They are super easy to work with!

Yes, I stamped the background again. Apparently this is what I do now...

I like it!

DT Doodles #35

This week over at Kiwi Lane ALL the sketches were card sketches!!

4 of them!

Since the scallop and flower templates are what sucked me into Kiwi Lane-ness in the first place, I picked this sketch:

...and turned it into a 2-page layout:

I used some of my favorite My Minds Eye paper for pictures of my baby girl!

Who is now 2... I don't scrapbook in order anymore. I got too "behind".

I traced the edge of my scallop template on my paper, followed it with liquid glue, and stuck on some yarn to make this border. It matches because my baby is wearing a crochet hat in the photo. Just imagine the matching!

I have noticed that for some reason, I am "allowed" to hand-journal on my Kiwi Lane layouts. It makes no sense! I HATE my handwriting and usually use stamps or typing. Maybe it's the more "hand-cut" feel of the layout that lets me expose my 3rd grade handwriting?

And because I already had all my stuff out, I made a card too:

All Close To My Heart mixed and matched paper! It's blank so it's versatile!

Thanks for looking!

HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY (yesterday)

I didn't want to post this card until I was sure everyone got it in the mail...

But since I saw it on both my mother's and my mother-in-law's countertops already I think it's safe!

This is the card 2 sets of Grandparents and 4 sets of Great-Grandparents received this year:

Yes, I was HEAVILY inspired by a card in the current Close To My Heart catalog... but I tweaked it enough that I am ok sharing it!

It turned out pretty dimensional! I knew this would be a Post Office card anyway...

Did everyone notice the amazing bow?

Go look again...

Happy Grandparents Day!

DT Doodles #34

I do not like the new keyboard.

The buttons push funny and the spacebar is too small and I feel like I have to type all hunched over with my hands squished together...

Nobody likes change, right?!

But I guess the stupid new keyboard did come with the new computer which all my pictures actually fit on and load in under 2 hours...

So here is Kiwi Lane's DT Doodles sketch #34:

No 2-page adapting needed this time!

Here is my layout:

Believe it or not, this is not really a Halloween layout! Really! The photos are my kids checking out a rather large spider in it's gigantic web in my flowerbed.

I used some "plant paper" that we will just say is of vintage scrapbooking age to make my spiders. It was a huge pain to work with, but it turned out perfect! After all, the spider in the pictures is pretty hairy and textured!

I don't think anyone else did spiders, but go HERE to see other people's creations at Kiwi Lane.

Off to scrub my inky fingers!

Again!

Aquamarine #8

I figured I might as well keep going with the Scrapbook Steals Aquamarine Mid Week Mojo series!

Here is sketch Aquamarine #8:

And here is the (surprise) 2-page layout I turned it into:

I finally did a boy page! It seems so much easier to scrapbook girls... just slap some flowers and bling and done...

But I thought with the tags and the lines this sketch had some more manly potential!

So now it is a page about my boy a looooong time ago when he was just an adorable toddler and not a giant turd of a seven-year-old!

Not that he's been difficult lately or anything...

Lots of manly toddler lines and tags!

I like it! I need to "force" myself to scrapbook boys more often!

Go HERE to see what other people forced themselves to do with this sketch :)
